Residential Substance Abuse Disorder Treatment Program
What residential treatment is like at Focus
Entering drug and alcohol treatment is a big deal. And while it’s a courageous first step towards recovery, it can also feel very overwhelming. Our goal is to make this process as comfortable as it can be.
At Focus, we’ve created a cozy, homelike environment. Bedrooms and bathrooms are semi-private, and we keep groups small, making it easier for patients to open up and share experiences with others who are going through similar struggles. We have a chef on staff who is in recovery, so creating delicious meals for our patients is his passion. Additionally, many of our team members are in recovery themselves, so they know first hand how our patients feel. You'll find compassionate and understanding staff at Focus because they've been there. There's no judgement, only empathy. Having someone to relate to during tough times can make all the difference on the recovery journey.
Our Whole-person Treatment Approach
Everyone’s struggle with addiction is different. Each person has their own unique story and background, which means there is no one-size-fits-all treatment method. To ensure a successful path to recovery, treatment is tailored according to the specific needs and underlying issues of each patient, and we evaluate mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs continually throughout each person’s stay with us.
By using this whole-person approach, we incorporate both traditional and therapeutic techniques to frame our overall healing process. Just a few of the tools we draw from include: 12-step philosophies, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), shame resiliency and self-compassion work, adventure programming, skill building groups based on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), intensive relapse prevention groups, expressive therapies such as art and gentle yoga, and various weekly outings.
Additionally, it is very common for those who struggle with substance use to also have a co-occurring mental health condition such as depression, anxiety disorder, or post-traumatic stress disorder. An individual therapist is part of each patient’s care team to ensure that any co-occurring mental health issues are also being adequately addressed along with the primary addiction.
